Altered Purpose by Design was born out of a vision, owner, and designer Marshal Juma had to create lasting pieces that are beautiful, unique, and timeless.

Marshal’s art has always been inspired by rodeo. Marshal was active in youth, collegiate, and professional rodeo and remains an avid fan. In his younger days he designed and made more custom rodeo chaps for cowboys than he can count. Rodeo continues to influence his work today. In fact, it was the distinctiveness of rodeo buckles that inspired the iron features on many of the custom pieces you will see here.

Marshal has also always loved the look and character of aged wood. Because of his love for wood with a history, reclaimed oak quickly became his favorite. His creations are often made from cargo trailer flooring that has been cleaned and transformed, but still shows those character scars of time. As Marshal's craft continues to be honed, he enjoys working with all hardwoods.
Marshal describes his style as fine rustic. Each piece is handmade and truly one-of-a-kind. From the reclaimed oak in which no two pieces have the same grain to the iron details that could be inspired by a story you tell him or a buckle he sees on a cowboy, each piece will truly become a centerpiece for your home or office.​
